About The Green Engine

Objectives
1) Allow interaction between students and companies such that network, internship, as well as employment opportunities are provided for both parties.

2) Enable students to learn from each other in the process of group work.

3) Motivate the bright young minds to be keen on innovating green ideas, to share knowledge, to discuss environmental issues, as well as introducing environmental solutions in Singapore context.

4) Encourage application of environmental engineering knowledge outside the classroom.

5) Facilitate the exposure of students to industrial standards.

6) The scale of this competition extends to all environmental engineering related courses in government polytechnics and universities in Singapore.

Competition Topic
The aim of the competition is to propose or improve on a feasible and innovative water or waste-water management method or device that is able to enhance quality of life, and/or is more environmentally friendly, in Singapore context. Participants are encouraged to form a group of 2 to 5 and submit innovative ideas in the form of a report.

Timeline

21 May 2012 (Monday)
Participants need to form groups and register by 21st May 2012.

25 to 30 June
Participants need to submit their reports.

14 July 2012 (Saturday)
Presentation & Prize Giving Ceremony

Rules and Regulations

1. The competition will be released on 7th  May 2012.2. Participants are required to form groups of 2 to 5 members and register by 21st May 2012.

3. Participants are required to submit a report between 25th to 30th June 2012.

4. The reports need to follow the standard requirement of maximum 10 pages (not including appendices), font size 12, line spacing 1.5.

5. Multiple entries from the same group of participants is not allowed.

6. The judging panel is formed up by NUS lecturers as well as invited representatives from water related companies.

7. The intellectual properties generated from the competition will be entitled freedom for the involved parties' usage to better the society, and with full credits given to the original author(s).

Scoring System

The scoring scheme is as follow:

> Report (70%)
 Feasibility of implementation,
 Innovation,
 Ease of application,
 Coherence, organization of report and   relevance to Singapore context.

> Presentation (30%)
Delivery of idea,
Effectiveness of visual/audio aids (Video/prototypes/slides), and
Q&A.

Top Prize: S$1000

Second Prize: S$500

Third Prize: S$250

Other consolation prizes

All participants will receive a certificate issued by Environmental Engineering Society of Singapore each.
